Under the umbrella of “Justice” club in Law Department – CBA, the students of Department organized a visit to the Human Rights Commission in Riyadh on Monday 09/03/1439 HC. The visit included a group of students accompanied by Dr. Ahmad Aljwair, Assistant Professor in the Department.
His Excellency Dr. Bandar Al-Obeidan, President of the Commission welcomed the team and the meeting started with introduction about the human rights in Islam, history of human rights establishment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, formation of the commission and the method to select its members. The meeting was attended by Nasser Al-Shahrani, Deputy President of Commission, Dr. Saeed Al-Showaf, Member of Council, Mr. Badar Bajabir, Member of Council, Mr. Abdurrahman Al-Shabraqi, Member of Council, Mr. Adil Al-Khathlan, General Admin Manager for Reports and Mr. Abdurrahman Al-Oraibi, Admin Manager of Monitoring and Follow Up.
Some students also participated in the introductory meeting like Mr. Ahmed Al-Omri spoke about the possibility of volunteer work in the activities of the Commission and adding a subject on human rights in the schools of general education. Mr. Abulaziz Al-Nujaim asked about the role of commission that if it is supervisory or executive as well as he asked about the role of media in highlighting the efforts of Commission. Mr. Hesam Al-Dubyan asked about the future role of Commission and Mr. Mohammad Sultan Al-Otiebi questioned that if there is interference in the roles while Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Duraihim asked about the role of Commission in the military punishments and Mr. Abdullah Al-Fifi asked about the branches of Commission. Around 43 students participated in this.
In the end, Dr. Ahmad Aljwair extended his thanks to the President of Commission, his Deputy and all members for their generosity and warm reception as well as they have been honored with memento shield and a memorial photo was taken.
