Under the patronage of Honorable Dean of the CBAK Dr. Nasser S. Al-Kahtani, Honorable Vice Dean Dr. Ali bin Saleh Al-Zahrani and Respected Admin Manager Mr. Mohammed Abdulmatloob Hamdan, the Students Activities Committee organized an awareness lecture entitled:
“Diseases and Prevention – Diabetes – A Case Study”
The lecture came in the frame of today’s international events of diabetes and the best efforts made by student Mr. Mohammad Fahd Al-Otaibi. The lecture was presented by Dr. Foad Abdussalam Ammar from the Health Center of Al-Saudiyah district.
Dr. Foad emphasized that the Kingdom made all efforts to establish several centers for the treatment of diabetes but the main focus in the treatment of this disease this the education which helps a lot to reduce the complications of disease whether it is acute or chronic complications. The health education is most effective means to reduce the costs of the treatment and it is a key of treatment for both types of diabetes.
Also, he explained that the genetic factors play a big role in the development of diabetes or it increase the likelihood of being infected by this disease. So, if there is diabetic person in the family, the rate of infection for members of this family is higher than the members of other families. Also, the overweight and obesity are main reasons for this disease as it helps to weaken the work of pancreas as well as eating large amounts of ready meals that contain a lot of fat and big percentage of sugars increases the weight. Also, he emphasized that the lack of exercise, smoking and excessive nervousness are all factors that increase the chances of diabetes.
In the end, Dr. Foad explained the methods of prevention from the diabetes like eating healthy foods, vegetables, fruits and staying away from ready meals high in calories and fat as well as the intake of sweets that contain high percentage of sugars must be reduced. Quit the smoking, try to be relaxed and get rid of excessive nervousness and do exercise to stimulate blood circulation and get rid of excess weight and obesity.
