Under the auspices of Honorable Dean Dr. Nasser S. Al-Kahtani the Students’ Activities Committee of the College organized a lecture under the Title: “Coronavirus – Causes and Treatment”.
The Lecture was presented by Honorable Dr. Foad Abdussalam Ammar who shed light on the coronavirus saying that it is a mysterious virus which in the beginning causes common symptoms like influenza as the patient will suffer from sore throat, cough, fever, breathing problem and headache which can be cured but sometimes the symptoms developed to inflammation in lung due to alveoli damage and swelling of lung tissues or kidney failure. Also, it stops oxygen to reach the blood due to malfunction of the body parts which can cause death in certain cases.
He emphasized that like most viruses the corona infects respiratory system and is caused by contamination of hands, direct contact with fluids and secretions of patients and small molecules of air as the virus enters though membranes of the nose and throat. There is no special treatment for virus corona as the body expels the viruses autoimmune but its treatment is done using particular medicine for each of them such as medicines for cough, analgesics and anti-inflammatory.
The lecture was ended with some advices to prevent from such viruses such as washing hands with water and soap or other disinfectants which are used to wash the hands particularly after coughing or sneezing. Also, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with hands, avoid mixing with infected patients, use tissue papers while coughing or sneezing and cover mouth and nose and then throw the tissues in the dustbin and wash the hands well. If the tissue paper is not available, it is better to cough or sneeze on your arm instead of hands. Always, maintain healthy habits such as washing fruits and vegetables before using, nutritional balance should be maintained, physical activity should be done and taking enough share of sleep, as it helps to increase the body's immunity. You should be keen to the cleanliness which has been emphasized on by our religion as we have been ordered to make ablution (Wudhu) five times a day.
