Under the patronage of Honorable Dean Dr. Nasser S. Al-Kahtani and in the frame of endeavors of the College to connect the theoretical aspect with practice and to improve relations with relative professional and financial institutions, the Student’s Advisory Council organized student visit to the “Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency” (SAMA) as more than 40 students visited the SAMA under the supervision of Dr. Nabil Ahmed Senan, Assistant Professor in Accounting Department and Dr. Abdul Samad Mohammed, Assistant Professor in Finance Department.
The visit started with an introductory lecture about the history of currencies, emergence of banks, its functions and its role in the economic process. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Nabil Ahmed Senan. Also, the team visited SAMA Money Museum and listened to complete detail about the history of currencies, specially, the Saudi Arabian Currency.
The SAMA Money Museum is considered as an international specialized institution in terms of its pre-Islamic, Islamic and modern possessions of currencies. In addition, the Museum possesses some raw materials used in modern banknote printing and coin minting industry. The Museum also exhibits pictures describing security features of the Saudi banknotes.
Mr. Mansour Al-Harbi, Director of Museum and Mr. Fadi Abdullah Al-Ajaji from SAMA welcomed the team and organized a workshop which shed light on the role of SAMA and its relations with commercial banks, insurance companies and financing institutions as well as it discussed the new strategic planning of SAMA and its objectives to achieve economic stability and prosperity for Saudi Society. The visit was arranged as part of activities of “Students’ Advisory Council” and to communicate with the professional bodies relevant to the activities and outputs of the college.
