With the cooperation of “Unit of Intellectual Awareness” in the University, the Students Activities Committee (SAC) organized a session on “Twitter Users” as a part of project named “Towards Conscious University”. The session was presented by Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Subaie, Vice Dean of Community Service and Continuing Education.
Dr. Abdullah shed light on different types of social communication tools and means and explained the facts and figures regarding its uses. He presented the positive aspects of communication means like it helps to spread the news very quickly as well as it is used in education and obtaining knowledge.
Also, he explained the negatives of communication tools like addiction, wasting a lot of time, intellectual deviation, dissemination of wrong thoughts and ideas and electronic blackmailing and cyber extortion. Moreover, he mentioned some tools which help the users to avoid negatives of communication means and maximize its benefits.
In the end, Dr. Tarek El-Khateb, Chair of Students’ Activities Committee in the College, extended his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Abdullah Al-Subaie to give lecture on such important issue as it will help students to constitute a conscious and rational thought. Also, he thanked to the Unit of Intellectual Awareness, specially, Dr. Khalid Al-Dubyan for his continuous support and constructive cooperation to the students’ activities and intellectual awareness.
