The Accounting Department of College of Business Administration organized a scientific seminar under the title: “Requirements of Professional Certificates in Accounting” with the cooperation of “Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants” (SOCPA) on 16/11/2017 GC.
The seminar was held in the frame of cooperation between the Department and Professional Organizations and aimed to connect the cognitive academic aspect with the professional aspect, rehabilitate the students for job market both in public and private sectors and support the students to find local and international professional fellowships.
The seminar started with recitation of some verses from the Holy Quran followed by speech of Honorable Dean of the College Dr. Nasser S. Al-Kahtani on vision, mission and strategic objectives of the college and its role in preparing and rehabilitating the graduates through ambitious curriculum that is consistent with the modern trends in the labor market. Also, he shed light on the rehabilitation, motivating and revitalization programs organized by the College which contribute to prepare academicians and professionals in the different specializations offered by the College.
Dr. Nabil Ahmed Senan, Supervisor of Accounting Department, delivered a speech about the role of Department and its vision in developing the course curriculum and its contents that fulfill the requirements of market and the modern business environment taking into account the policies of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to adopt the international standards for financial reports and tax legislations issued recently. Also, he discussed the issue to improve cognitive and professional skills of graduates that can achieve the requirements of local and international professional bodies. Also, he shed light on department’s strenuous efforts to establish partnerships with local and international bodies, practitioners of profession and private sector with the aim to prepare the graduates of the Department relying on modern accounting trends and specialized programs as well as activate the role of faculty member in the Department in educational and research services that will contribute to serve and prepare these students.
Thereafter, Dr. Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Oqaili, Assistant Secretariat for Membership and Professional Development – SOCPA delivered a lecture on “Introduction about the SOCPA” as he started with a brief introduction about the Organization and its role in rehabilitating the graduates of Accounting. Also, he discussed the professional and technical standards, data, information and requirements necessary to get the fellowship of SOCPA. Also, he talked about the training program for fellowship which contain five training program in the area of accounting, auditing, Zakat & Tax, jurisprudence of transactions and commercial/trading systems.
Dr. Tarek El-Khateb, Chair of Students’ Activities Committee, talked about the role of college and its several curricular and extra-curricular activities which improve the personality of student and create balance between the theoretical and practical aspects. Also, he appreciated this work which came in the frame of supports extended by Students’ Activities Committee to all programs and events organized by Departments of the College.
Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al-Dhubaibi, Assistant Professor in Accounting Department delivered a lecture on “Requirements of International Professional Bodies in Accounting” as he touched on the issue of international fellowships in the area of Accounting, its requirements and differences as well as the role of Accounting Department in this regard.
The seminar witnessed discussion and queries from the students and faculty members as a big number of students of the college from different specializations, specially, from Accounting Department with its both sections male and female attended the seminar. Also, some heads of departments and faculty members were present in the seminar.
In the end, Dr. Nabil Senan extended his thanks to all attendees and those who had participated in preparation of seminar. Also, he distributed “shields” and “appreciation certificates” to those who were excellent in the seminar as well as to those who participated in it actively and effectively.
